With it starting to get a little chilly and snow covering many towns at the moment, we decided to head to Hatton Adventure World on Sunday knowing that they have great entertainment whatever the weather.
We aren't particularly bothered by the cold, it's nothing wrapping up warm can't solve, but many will prefer to stay indoors at home much to our advantage; it was lovely and quiet but we were able to enjoy all of the usual falconry displays, rides and animals.
The schedule showed that the Scales and Tails event was running when we arrived (it's on every weekend during January) so we headed to the exotic animal area to get hands on with lizards, snakes and spiders!
I must admit I'm quite fearful of small creatures and creepy crawlies but on this occasion I felt rather brave and I happily held a cockroach. I wanted to persuade the Mini Mes to have a go too and sometimes you just have to lead by example which resulted in them plucking up the courage to hold some critters of their own.
The staff were really friendly and answered all of my random questions about the animals.
We did some bowling, watched the birds of prey, played on the trampolines, milked a cow, rode tractors, completed the obstacle course and much more. There is plenty to keep you occupied for the day. It's a very interactive place and children can learn about life on the farm while having fun.
I did notice that the inflatables were down but the funfair rides were open and with no extra charge they are great fun for little ones.

The cafe has a nice variety of hot and cold meals all of which are fairly good value so we headed there for lunch. The kids packs are less than £6 for a drink and 5 other items of your choice. Minxy and Jamster both opted for ham sandwiches, sausages, a Milky Way, chunks of cheese, and raisins with pure apple juice. The Mr and I shared a meal as the portions are generous and we are both trying to calorie count this year! We had cheesy pasta bake which came with veg and chips and it really warmed us both up. It was fresh and very tasty.
If you choose to bring a picnic there are quite a few benches spread around where you can sit, some of which are decorated with a farm theme. There are good baby changing facilities on site too if required.
We ended the day with an hour in the incredible soft indoor play area. It takes a few minutes for the Mini Mes to build themselves up to have a go on the drop slides but as soon as they do it's a struggle to get them back off! They love them. There are several floors to play on with ropes and climbing equipment to enjoy.
There is plenty of seating for adults to sit nearby although there were several parents zooming about on the apparatus themselves. I decided to keep the Mr company with his broken elbow this time so we sat with a warm drink while the Mini Mes played. I could hear their giggles and see their smiles from a distance, a sure sign they were having an amazing time.
