Lottie is a doll with a difference. She has a childlike shape to promote positive views on body image, she doesn't wear heels, makeup or jewellery and she has age appropriate roles so children can really connect with her. I'm so pleased to see toys like this available and Minxy was equally as excited to play with her!
We received the Butterfly Protector doll from the range that wears a jacket, hat, top, shorts, socks and boots - something a real child would typically wear for outdoor play. She comes complete with several coloured butterflies, a net, binoculars and also life cycle cards which teach your little ones about how caterpillars transform. As well as being fun she certainly has educational benefits too.
As soon as she was unboxed we went to see if we could find some butterflies in the garden ourselves.
Lottie encourages being active and her ball socket limbs and bendable knees even enable her to do the splits! There are other dolls including Kawaii Karate Lottie and Fossil Hunter Lottie and there are additional outfits which include football kit, gymnastic clothing and fishing gear along with accessories like scooters, pets and even robots to extend the imaginative play even further.
She represents different facets of childhood without restriction which I think is great.
She is 18cm tall and she is able to stand on her own two feet unlike many other dolls. She also comes in a selection of eye, hair and skin colours to be culturally diverse. Her hair is made from Saran which prevents it from getting tangled and her clothes are easy to pop on and off due to the Velcro fastenings. I think when it comes to kids play they have everything covered!
There is a male version named Kite Flyer Finn which encourages boys to play with dolls too while providing more variety for the girls as well.
Lottie has won a total of 19 awards and it's easy to see why.
She is aimed at children aged 3+ and is great value at around £16.99.
